Here's our line up for this year - make sure you're at the V&A Waterfront to join us!

International and local buskers are at the V&A Waterfront from 5 to 8 October for the second Cape Town Buskers Festival. The Buskers Festival marks the end of the Cape Town Fringe Festival – and the school holidays – with a programme of free-to-enter performances on six stages at the V&A Waterfront. Audiences pay for what they like, and can do so by putting money into the performers’ hats, a tradition called ‘hatting’.

Cape Town Buskers Festival CEO Tony Lankester says, ‘In many respects busking is the original crowdfunding. It’s also one of the oldest forms of theatre but, in South Africa, it’s not always accorded the same respect as other performance arts. We have brought out some international acts to add variety to the programme but our local street performers will certainly dominate and will hold their own with the crowds.’

The Cape Town Buskers Festival is part of the Cape Town Fringe. Established in 2014, the Cape Town Fringe provides a platform for all genres of performance – theatre, dance, music, comedy – and the Buskers Festival adds street theatre to the mix, giving Capetonians a rich, exciting programme for the whole family
